Round 6 : NETHERLANDS GP : 06/26/2010
Difficulties continue...Focus is all on what is ahead
(Qualifiers: 13th; Final: 10th)

ASSENIt was the second week of three consecutive weeks of MotoGP races, and the venue for this sixth race was the legendary Dutch TT. The final race on Saturday would take place at the Assen circuit, which is known as one of the most difficult circuits in MotoGP. In 2006, however, the course was significantly renovated, making it much shorter. Moreover, the chicane on the back straight was re-profiled this year, bringing the average speed up even higher.
On the first day, Yuki started with the same setup he had used in England, but the machine got out of control again, and he dropped into 32nd place. On Saturday morning, he tried everything he could think of but could not make any improvements, so after discussing it with his team, he decided to put the machine back in the condition it was in during the second race in Spain.

Although not all the problems he was having had been completely eliminated, the machine was in much better condition during the official qualifying round than it was on the first day. Working on the setup to get the machine in the best possible condition, he went in for his time attack. The very last time he recorded ended up being his best, and it placed him 13th on the grid, 0.9 seconds behind first place.
Known for changing quickly, the weather in the Netherlands remained uncharacteristically good for the entire week. Following a warm-up set on the day of the finals, the race was finally about to begin.

ASSENYuki got off to a satisfactory start again this time, and he made his pace in the midst of a free-for-all. While battling it out in the group vying for eighth place, he was able to ride at close to his best pace and move up into ninth place. Towards the end of the race he caught up with the seventh place rider who did not pick up his pace and had a chance to pass him, but in the last lap his machine acted like it was out of gas, and he was ultimately unable to challenge him for his position.

ASSENComment from Yuki Takahashi
"This was a difficult race, too. However, I was able to complete it, so we got some good data. There are more races ahead, and if I can push myself to the limit, I might come upon a hint for improving the machine. After next week's Catalonia GP there's a test run on the new Aragon circuit, so I plan on riding hard and collecting data. "
